Authentication Policy to Exclude New and Reproduction Merchandise
The Marburger Atlanta Antique Show exhibits only antique, vintage, and mid-century modern items, or items re-purposed primarily from antique, vintage, and mid-century components. New merchandise, reproductions, new mass-produced items, and new items made primarily from new components are not allowed.
Every dealer will be required to sign, and agree to, this Authentication Agreement as part of their show participation and registration process.
Issues:
1. We have a progressive and generous view of mid-century modern and vintage design up through 1989.
2. If you feel that you cannot apply to the show in accordance with this policy, we will wish you well at another venue.
Exceptions:
1. Artisans. Grandfathered into the show upon our acquisition was a category of talented artisan dealers. They are in selected areas of the show and on a juried and curated basis. They do not reproduce antiques. If you have not been invited as an artisan dealer, please do not bring new items or new items made of new components.
2. Gray Areas. We do encourage the re-purposing of antique and vintage items and we do allow new components that make antique and vintage items ready to sell, such as new glass, mirror, jewelry fixings, pillow inserts, upholstery where needed, wiring, bulbs, lampshades, frames where needed, stands and display devices for art or artifacts, hardware, repairs and finishes where needed (and clearly identified), etc. A new tabletop on a new table base is NOT allowed, even if it is made to look weathered, vintage or old. The primary value of the item you are selling must be in the antique, vintage or mid-century modern portion or components. The management of Marburger Farm Antique Show reserves the right to determine whether items meet the requirements of the authenticity agreement and whether they exhibit the level of quality appropriate for the show.
3. We do allow rocks, fossils, shells, and other natural materials with some age, but not set in newly-made jewelry.
Rationale: As show owners, operators and promoters, our job is to project the integrity of the show by ensuring that:
1. Shoppers trust merchandise purchased at Marburger Farm to be authentic antique, vintage, and mid-century and re-purposed items.
2. Interior designers know that their time is spent viewing only antique, vintage, mid-century modern and re-purposed items.
3. Dealers who do the work of finding authentic items will not face unfair competition from new or reproduced items.
Implementation: Marburger Farm reserves the sole right to examine or prohibit any new items from being exhibited. We acknowledge that this is a complex issue and that we may make errors of judgement. We value to positive sense of community at Marburger Farm and do not want to harm that in any way. At each show we will implement this policy as fairly as possible. Please bear with us and feel free to offer suggestions or to ask questions about particular pieces of merchandise. The Marburger Farm Antique Show is a magnificent show and we are all in this together.
